Spotless operates across 3 markets; Automotive, Marine and Aviation

Some franchise territories will have all 3 markets available within them; some will just have the automotive market. No matter, the territories are sized so that each franchise has around the same potential turnover.

Spotless primarily valets (cleans to a high standard), however Spotless also offers additional services such as:

Spotless operates internationally, occasionally as a franchisee you can be asked to work outside of your territory, even abroad!

SUB FRANCHISE

A Spotless sub franchise is a great opportunity for someone who does not have the initial capital needed to purchase a master franchise but still is motivated to become their own boss and run their own business.

How it works:

You purchase (lease) your own van and equipment.

You then trade within an existing master franchise territory paying a regu-lar royalty fee to the master franchise owner.

All customers you gain are still owned by the master franchise owner but should you wish to leave the master franchise owner will pay you a pre ar-ranged fee.

MASTER FRANCHISE

There are many franchise opportunities on the market however, becoming a master franchise owner with Spotless gives you huge benefits and potential that offers just cannot offer. As a master franchise owner you own the rights to trade in an exclusive territory expanding by purchasing additional vans or granting minor fran-chises the right to trade in your area.

After leaving the forces after 22 years, knowing what to do was daunting, I always enjoyed working with cars and really wanted to run my own business but wouldn't have really known the direction to go in. After meeting the spotless recruitment team I felt a lot more confident and happy with the guidance and assistance I could call upon if necessary although without the feeling that I was being managed.

After just over a year I can boast over 200 private clients, many of them have become regular, some private residents and many businesses and several large contracts including one with the MOD. Customers are acquired through a mixture of word of mouth and marketing strategies so working under the "spotless banner" is a perfect partnership, one I will be taking advantage of for years to come. Alongside the general valeting you need to be willing to pitch for new contracts, the office staff will support you on the larger pitches and operating under the Spotless banner enables you to acquire jobs and contracts you definitely couldn't on your own. For example recently the marketing team helped me win a contract with the largest Private (boarding) School in my area covering their fleet of minibuses and the staff cars (they have over 250 staff) and the operational fleet of a large onshore oil refinery.

The training was really good both by Spotless and Autoglym, and it really helped that all of the money earned during the training period went directly into my franchise. I was earning from day 1 and during the training month we turned over £3,100. I will give one word of advice though, you have to be prepared to work hard.

TIM AUDLEY

I’d been working nights as a team leader at Tesco for six years. While it was secure employment, with a modest income, it offered little in the way of opportunity for career progression. Plus, work-ing nights had taken over my life, and not for the better! It was time for change. When I found out that Spotless was looking to expand its franchise operation, I knew it was worth investigating. This was a unique opportunity to join a recognised and respected brand with an ambitious growth strategy. A Spotless franchise presented me with a chance to develop business management skills, learn a professional trade and build up a loyal customer base within my allocated territory. Leaving full-time employment was not a decision I took lightly, particularly in such a tough economic climate, but I knew this was too good an opportunity to miss.

No hard sell

From my initial enquiry, there was no hard sell or pressure to take on the franchise; quite the opposite in fact. I was offered a trial day out in a van with franchise director Gareth Whitely , allow-ing me to gain an insight into what it’s like on the job, and to determine if it was right for me. I liked the set-up: the brand’s distinctive logo on the vans, the smart uniform, plus the dedication and attention to detail shown by everyone involved with the operation.

Management support

Having always been in full-time employment, I was anxious about my ability to manage the financial aspects of running my own business – but I shouldn’t have been worried. I received extensive support from Spotless HQ from the outset: helping me with matters from organising business public liability insurance to showing me how to keep daily accounts of my takings. They dealt with handing over my fully equipped van, insuring it, and providing me with a month’s supply of valeting products. True to their word, I was earning from the outset.

I was assigned a Nat West business manager and her support was vitally important when launching my franchise. The business manager set up my business account, loan and dealt with associated paperwork, talking me through how a franchise operation functions and discussing issues associated with being self-employed. MATT VOISEY

I have been valeting ever since I left school. For six years I worked for a contracting company that employed me to work remotely at many different car dealerships. I’ve always enjoyed the job I do and take pride in my work but I had got to the point where I had ascended in the company as high as I could and I wanted to set up my own business. What attracted me was it gave me the opportunity to be my own boss and directly earn money for my benefit, not just the company I was working for. I came across the Spotless franchising opportunity and as soon as I met with Tim and Ben I knew that this would be the right option for me. I would operate my own business with the support that I would need to really succeed.

The trial day was a helpful insight into what a Spotless Franchise is all about. As soon as I completed my trial day I was convinced it was right for me.

For my first month I had Tim with me in the van. He trained me in every aspect of running the franchise from the physical valeting to the marketing and business administration side of things. I picked up the valeting very quickly (as I already had experience) and found that valeting aircraft and marine craft was very similar to cars. Tim really helped me with the marketing side, showing me techniques and giving me the confidence needed to build up a client base.

Since I have started I have found it to be significantly more rewarding than my previous job. There is no two ways about it, you do have to work hard and put in a considerable amount of time and effort. However, unlike before, the harder I work the greater the reward. This is a great motivator!

Over the next couple of years I want to continue to build up my territory and client base to a stage where I have a fleet of vans in the area. There is massive potential out there, particularly for me with all the private jets based at Bournemouth Airport.

Already I have been lucky to work on some flash motors including a Pagani Zonda F (worth upwards of £1 million) and numerous Ferraris and Aston Martins. Saying this I always try to provide a great level of service for every customer and every car, despite its value, and this attitude has really paid off.

Customer Service

Spotless franchisees need to have great customer service skills, a smart appearance and a conscientious attitude to customers is essential. Spotless provides a premium service to a range of customers from very different backgrounds. It is crucial that a Spotless franchisee gives every customer the same high level of service.

Sales Skills

Experience in sales is by no means essential. However, Spotless franchisees need to possess confidence and a natural rapport with others in order to fully maximise their return on each job.

Organisational and Financial

Training in business administration, planning and financial guidance is given. However, franchisees do need to be able to naturally plan their day and should possess a good level of common sense.

Driving Experience

A franchisee needs to have a full driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points.

The Van

Maintaining Spotless’ brand and image is crucial for the continuing growth and success of the Spotless network. As a result every van in the Spotless fleet follows a strict set of criteria gov-erning age, condition and presentation.

As a network we use VW Caddy vans in our signature blue with body coded bumpers and wing mirrors. Individual specifications are up the van owner.

At a minimum every Spotless van must carry the equipment needed to perform all of our automotive services. Additional equipment is required for marine or aviation applicable territories.

The equipment you need is provided and installed by Spotless when you receive your new van.

We only use professional grade equipment specifically chosen to provide the best finish in the quickest and most efficient manner possible. The interior of the van is designed so that everything is quick to hand and easy to clean and maintain.

Please note: the van and equipment is not included within the franchise fee, we use a leasing and finance company to underwrite these costs and you pay for them in the form of monthly

Comprehensive Training

In partnership with Autoglym our fully comprehen-sive training schedule is designed to ensure that you are trained up to Spotless’ standard before you go out on your own.

Each automotive training period lasts for a total of 4 weeks.

  • 2 weeks with an existing franchisee and in the head office
  • 2 weeks in your new territory to perfect your skills and to build up a basic client base

For aviation and marine franchises additional train-ing and marketing periods are provided.

Please note: unlike other similar franchise opportunities we will place a full time member of staff in the van with you for 2 weeks, this helps to ensure that you are earning from day one.

A master franchise should aim to have a multi van fleet within the first couple of years (2nd end of yr 1). Each territory has been designed to support circa 5 vans.

Your territory is your investment, as such it is vital you get to know the area you will be running your business to ensure that you a fully maximising its full potential. Before you start we will perform a territory analysis and create a plan for you to work to. As the Spotless network and brand grows it is rea-sonable to assume the value of franchise territories will rise.

Marketing Agent

Once a territory has been awarded and you have completed 2 weeks training at the head office and on the road we will send a marketing agent up to your territory with you for the first 2 weeks of trading.

Their role is not only to continue the training but primarily to help you build your client base so that you are turning over a minimum of £750 per week. They will teach you how to successful generate work from residential and corporate environments.

Funding

Whilst it is preferable to pay for a franchise up front and out right, it is not always possible. In fact the majority of franchises in the UK have used some form of outside funding to help pay for the initial costs of a franchise. There are plenty of options when it comes to funding. How-ever, we do ask that the franchisee can put in a minimum of 50% of the initial fee and is in a financially stable position.

Spotless has close links with the NatWest franchising team. NatWest have worked with Spotless for over 12 years, they know the model inside out and will fund up to 50% of the franchise fee.

Family Loan

Family loans can be great form of informal borrowing and often come with favourable interest rates. Howev-er, they are organised we are happy to provide you with a contract template that ensures that both parties.

Grants and Funds

There are plenty of grants and funds available to help those who will be trading within a particular area. We will be happy to help you apply for these funds and we already have been successful in the past.

PLEASE NOTE: A Spotless franchise is a large investment, not only financially, but also in terms of time commitments. Remember your initial investment is not written off, should you grow your franchise the chances are it will be worth a significant amount more than you paid for it. We have every interest in helping you succeed and make as large a return as possible. If you have any questions about the financial side of a Spotless franchise please do not hesitate to speak to one of our team.

Whilst there are plenty of other funding sources around, we will need to know how you have funded your franchise so that we can be confident you are getting a fair deal. If you need any help and support please speak to one of the management team and arrange a meeting.

  3. Every potential franchisee undergoes a suit-ability assessment, if you pass this you will be invited to spend a discovery day out in a van with one of the franchises.
  4. Once you are confident you know everything there is to know about running a Spotless franchise and we are confident you are capable we will create a plan for your area and provide you with a copy of the franchise agreement
  5. At this point, should you wish to continue with a Spotless Franchise, documents will be signed, your van will be fitted out and the training will begin! You will begin your first steps to becoming your own boss and creating a healthy return on your investment.
